Silicon Valley Open plans all-glass play: a squash venue planning reminder

An upcoming all-glass squash event illustrates why spectator space and event operations belong in the court procurement brief.

The industry update

US Squash reports that the 2026 Silicon Valley Open is scheduled for 20–24 October in Redwood City. Its announcement describes a 48-player professional event, with equal men’s and women’s fields, played on an all-glass court.

An all-glass court is part of a wider venue

For buyers considering a glass squash court, visibility is only one part of the project. Spectator circulation, access to doors, lighting and the relationship between the court and surrounding spaces must be reviewed together. A court drawing should therefore sit within a venue plan, not replace it. This is VELNUZ’s planning interpretation, not a description of the event’s technical specification.

Event-led projects also need a clear distinction between permanent installation and a court intended for relocation. Assembly planning, storage, handling and the supporting surface require project-specific review. Do not assume that every glass court is portable or that a previous event setup can be repeated on any site.

Before you specify a court

When approaching a glass squash court supplier, provide the venue dimensions, intended use and any temporary-event requirements. Ask for the supply boundary, installation responsibilities and local structural interfaces in writing. If your project is an existing conventional squash court, assess a glass back wall package separately from a complete all-glass enclosure.
