FIP opens 2027 applications: plan padel venues before procurement
FIP’s 2027 calendar process highlights why tournament ambitions should be defined before a padel court supply brief is finalised.
The industry update
FIP has opened applications from individual promoters for its 2027 CUPRA FIP Tour, FIP Promises and FIP Beyond calendars. Where an affiliated national federation exists, promoters need its prior approval before FIP considers the application.
Procure for the intended event, not just the playing enclosure
A club built primarily for daily bookings may need a different site arrangement from a venue hosting organised competition. For a new padel court project, identify the expected event level before freezing the layout. Competition requirements, player circulation, warm-up space, officials and spectator areas should be reviewed with the organiser. Buying a court does not itself secure tournament approval.
For procurement, separate the court-system package from the surrounding venue works. Request a clearly labelled layout, installation interfaces and a responsibility schedule showing which works belong to the court supplier, local contractor and operator. This makes it easier to compare offers that otherwise appear to cover the same product.
Before you specify a court
Give your padel court supplier the site dimensions, indoor or outdoor setting and planned opening date. Ask the relevant federation or organiser for current event requirements, then check those requirements against the proposed venue before ordering. A realistic schedule must allow time for local design, ground works, delivery and installation.
